Hazrat Bilal Centre holds its first prayer session

Friday 1 April 2016

An historic first Friday prayer session was held today at Hazrat Bilal Centre in Sevier Street, St Werburghs. The building now has a roof although it is still some way from completion. The project was initiated by the local muslim community. The Masjid (or house of prayer) was led by chair Taher Mahmood who has seen this project through to this stage. There is still more work and fundraising required to bring this community centre to its finished state but it has come a long way from the initial planning application back in February 2006. For more details of this project you can visit the Hazrat Bilal Centre page on Facebook.

Hazrat Bilal Centre stated "We would like to thank all that attended and pledged money to see the project to completion. Indeed it was a historic day for our community!"
